Born and raised in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais, my journey in design began unexpectedly but was deeply rooted in the natural beauty and rich culture of my hometown. Brumadinho is renowned for its majestic mountains, stunning sunsets, and the characteristic mist that gives the landscape a unique charm. Additionally, the Inhotim Institute, a singular blend of park and museum, played a crucial role in shaping my aesthetic sensibility. Inhotim, with its impressive collection of contemporary art and being the largest outdoor art center in Latin America, inspired my perspective on the intersection between art and functionality.

My passion for design started practically during my adolescence, when I spent a lot of time collaborating with the local brass band. It was there that I began creating communication pieces, such as event invitations and eventually my first significant website. I developed a news portal for the band, where I managed all content, including photos and texts. This initial exposure to digital design led me to dive into learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, exploring everything from basic interactions in Flash to creating cleaner and more functional interfaces.

Childhood also played a fundamental role in awakening my creativity. With an aunt who was a teacher encouraging me to explore the computer, I spent hours on Windows 98’s Paint, doodling and creating abstract shapes. Although I was never a natural illustrator, this technological and aesthetic curiosity allowed me to develop a mindset geared towards experimentation and practical creation.

My journey took a significant turn when I joined Work & Co, where I had the opportunity to learn from great names in Brazilian digital design, such as Felipe Memoria. Exchanging ideas and absorbing knowledge from Felipe was transformative, especially in connecting modernist art to digital design. Figures like Dieter Rams, Ellen Lupton, Massimo Vignelli, and Jan Tschichold deeply influenced my approach to typographic design and content organization. Artists such as Mondrian, Ellsworth Kelly, and Luis Barragán also shaped my vision, inspiring me to use colors, shapes, and simplicity in my digital creations.

Today, residing in São Paulo, I continue to nurture my passion for creating interfaces and brands that not only solve problems but also offer visually impactful and intuitive experiences. The city’s vibrant food, art, and music scenes are a constant source of inspiration, broadening my creative perspectives and fueling my pursuit of innovation.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to lead design teams and collaborate with renowned brands such as Amazon, Vivo, Havaianas, Petrobras, Globo, Goldman Sachs, Santander, Cartão Elo, Iveco, and Usiminas, among others. My design philosophy is founded on prioritization, elimination of superfluous content, and ease of comprehension. I believe that good design should focus on the essential, removing excess and avoiding visual overload and distractions. This results in clear, consistent, and intuitive interfaces, where every visual element — such as colors, typography, and layout — is standardized to reduce the learning curve and make interactions more predictable and efficient.

My approach combines a deep technical understanding with a refined aesthetic sensibility, allowing me to collaborate effectively with programmers and other professionals. This ability to transition between creative design and technical implementation ensures that innovative solutions are also viable and well-executed. I value constant experimentation and creating multiple versions to solve the same problem, exploring different approaches until finding the ideal solution. I believe that genuine user feedback, obtained through real-world testing environments, is essential for agile adjustments and continuous improvements.

In addition to digital design, I also seek inspiration in art and architecture. The simplicity and bold use of colors in Luis Barragán’s architecture, for example, influence my creation of clean and cohesive digital interfaces. This combination of artistic and technical influences allows me to develop a timeless and adaptable visual language suited to different contexts and projects.

My journey is marked by an incessant pursuit of innovation and the ability to create something unique in every project. From the first websites I developed to collaborations with major brands, my goal has always been to create experiences that not only solve problems but also are aesthetically engaging and functional. I believe that the true value of design lies in its ability to balance form and function, ensuring that every interaction is meaningful and impactful for the user.

Process of Work

My design process is guided by three essential principles: prioritization, elimination of superfluous content, and ease of comprehension. I believe that the essence of effective design lies in the ability to focus on what truly matters to the user, removing unnecessary elements and avoiding visual overload and distractions. This results in clearer, more consistent, and intuitive experiences, where every visual element — such as colors, typography, and layout — is standardized to reduce the learning curve and make interactions more predictable and efficient.

When I start a project, my first step is to deeply understand the problem that needs to be solved. This understanding allows me to set clear priorities and determine which elements are essential for the user’s experience at that moment. Simplicity does not mean following passing trends, but rather creating something timeless and relevant that remains effective over time.

Constant experimentation is a fundamental part of my process. I like to develop multiple versions to solve the same problem, exploring different approaches until I find the ideal solution. I place great value on usability testing, both in controlled environments and in the real use of the product, because I believe that genuine user feedback is crucial for agile adjustments and continuous improvements. This methodology allows me to iterate quickly and effectively refine the interface.

I work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including developers and product teams. With a solid technical background in front-end development, especially in JavaScript and React, I can communicate effectively with programmers and developers, ensuring that the creative solutions I propose are technically feasible and well-implemented. I facilitate dialogue between teams, ensuring that the design vision is translated into practical and high-impact solutions.

Furthermore, I believe that design should be sustainable and timeless. Good design not only meets the current needs of users but also remains relevant and effective over time without the need for frequent revisions. This approach contributes to creating interfaces that are consistent and durable, staying aligned with user expectations and behaviors as they evolve.

My journey is marked by a constant search for innovation and the ability to create something unique in every project. From the first websites I developed to collaborations with major brands, my goal has always been to create experiences that not only solve problems but also are aesthetically engaging and functional. I believe that the true value of design lies in its ability to balance form and function, ensuring that every interaction is meaningful and impactful for the user.
