About

Vincit Beer is my single-batch, self-initiated craft lager—a “liquid thank-you” I brewed at the end of 2015 to honor every late-night push, near-miss, and ultimate win of the year while stoking my optimism for the future. Instead of mailing the usual holiday card, I partnered with a local home-brewer in Belo Horizonte and decided to bottle gratitude itself. The name borrows from my surname and Virgil’s timeless line omnia vincit amor (“love conquers all”), reframed here as a reminder that shared effort conquers anything.

I designed the identity around two radiant tones—crisp white and sun-yellow—because they felt as buoyant as the occasion. A rising semicircle sits atop the label: part sunrise, part smile. Center stage is a pared-down Φ (phi), an homage to the golden ratio that guides so much of my work. Each amber bottle was hand-numbered, wrapped in white paper, and sealed with a matching yellow sticker so unboxing became its own celebratory ritual.

Copywriter Marcos Oliveira and I shaped a narrative that frames the beer as “more than a drink—an invitation to toast our victories past and future,” while photographer Lara Dias captured the bottle in clean, geometric compositions for social and print. The entire run vanished within days, deepening my ties with clients and collaborators and proving that a personal passion project can rival any commercial brief.

Word spread quickly: Vincit Beer earned an Awwwards Honorable Mention on May 16 2016 and was showcased on Siteinspire. Major design outlets followed, including 99U, AIGA Eye on Design, The Dieline, Packaging of the World, and CreativeDoc, alongside print anthologies such as Shapes: Geometric Forms in Graphic Design (Sandu Publishing), Less is More (Viction:ary), and Remarkable Graphic Styles—Void (SendPoints).

Today Vincit Beer lives on as a case study in how careful craft and clear intent can turn a humble bottle into a beacon for new collaborations—proof that every small victory deserves a toast poured with design integrity.
