In São Paulo’s Shopping Iguatemi, Havaianas Lab reimagines flip-flop shopping as a 900-square-foot playground of colour, code and constantly shifting stories.

We had less than three months to translate the brand’s easy-going spirit into an interactive environment that could scale worldwide and entice a new generation born scrolling, not strolling. The result is a modular platform built around three digital moments: a 9 × 16 LED “Colour Wall” that instantly fills with every sandal sharing a chosen hue; a touch-driven timeline that animates six decades of ads, icons and cultural milestones; and a generative mandala that morphs to match local seasons, festivals and promotions—all rendered with lightweight Canvas and vanilla JavaScript so staff can refresh content in minutes.

Behind the scenes, an algorithm orders more than 1,500 possible colour combinations drawn from fourteen base colours and five tonalities, while AA-level accessibility checks keep the riot of hues readable for everyone. Two portrait touchscreens plus a horizontal display form a single, seamless rail; the moment a shopper taps a swatch, matching products glide into view, making even the most indecisive visitor grin.

Because every asset is code-driven, launching a new Lab—in London, Rio or beyond—means swapping JSON files, not rebuilding hardware. The first store quickly became the blueprint for future flagships and drew coverage from Ad Age, Propmark and tech press alike, validating the Lab as Havaianas’ live testing ground for retail innovation.
