About

Estúdio Lampejo, the Belo Horizonte studio led by designers Filipe Costa and João Emediato, set out to discover what a flag can say when freed from territorial symbolism.

We needed a lean web platform that mirrored the flags’ fearless palette, allowed real-time bidding, and emailed bidders whenever they were outbid—all between 26 June and 4 July 2017.

We built brevesbandeiras.com.br, a stripped-back auction site that logged each bid, triggered instant email alerts, and closed automatically at midnight on the final day. While the site was live, the physical flags hung at Guaja Café in Belo Horizonte, uniting on-screen interaction with an in-person experience.

Every lot attracted bids; the full series was exhibited at the inaugural Bonde Brazilian-design festival in New York on 22 July 2017; and the project received a Graphic Design Feature on Behance.
